Offered up by big bank ANZ, the ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card is provided to customers who sign up for the ANZ Access Advantage account.
What’s great?
When you use a debit card, you are paying with your own money. So, unlike when you pay with a credit card, there is no balance building up that you will need to pay off at the end of the month – and no interest accruing. That can make it easier to manage than a credit card, especially if you have a tendency to overspend.
With that in mind then, what else can you benefit from with the ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card in your wallet?
Accessibility
See that Visa symbol? Just like a Visa credit card, a Visa debit card such as the ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted. That means you can use it across Australia and around the world, to pay for anything from your morning coffee to your hotel stay in Vegas. It can also be used at ATMs worldwide, allowing you access to your money when you need it.
Fees
When you set up an ANZ Access Advantage account, you will pay a $5 monthly fee. However, ANZ will waive that fee if you deposit at least $2,000 into your account each month. The fee will also be waived if you fit into any of the following categories:
- • You are under 25 or aged 60 or over.
- • You are a full-time student at an Australian educational institution.
- • You receive a disability support pension or mobility allowance from Centrelink.
- • You have an ANZ Home Loan, an ANZ Residential Investment Loan or an ANZ Portfolio Facility, and have your salary paid into your account.
- • You have a combined deposit balance of $50,000 in one or more of the following ANZ accounts: ANZ Access Advantage, Access Select, Premium Cash Management, Online Saver, Progress Saver, ANZ term deposits, V2 Plus, Passbook Savings, Premier Cheque.
Account Management
ANZ is a big bank with a big bank budget. That means it has the money to develop some great features to make account management easy. Using the ANZ app, you will be able to view balances, transfer money and make payments simply and easily. Using internet banking, you can manage your accounts, pay and transfer money, access online statements and a whole lot more.
Compatibility
Want to pay with your device? You can with your ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card. With your compatible device, you can use your card to pay via Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay. So, wherever you’re going, whatever you’re doing, you can leave your wallet at home and tap to pay with your device instead.
Security
Another great thing about banking with a big bank is the security it can offer. Not only are your funds protected by the Government Deposit Guarantee, when you have an ANZ Access Advantage account you will benefit from added protection provided by the ANZ Fraud Money Back Guarantee and the ANZ Internet Banking Guarantee.
What’s worth considering?
The main thing to think about before you sign up for the ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card is its monthly fee. If you're unable to deposit $2,000 monthly or fit the criteria for the fee to be waived, you will pay $5 each month. Although this is typical for such accounts, you may find what’s on offer is worth paying for.
Why should you choose it?
If you are looking for a debit card that allows you easy access to your own money, whether that’s in-store, online or at the ATM, the ANZ Access Advantage Debit Card could be well worth exploring. As a big bank card backed by Visa, the card offers excellent useability, security and account management, with a small monthly fee that is waived when you deposit at least $2,000 into the account each month.

admin
August 30, 2023Hi May, I think you’re asking if you can withdraw from an ANZ ATM with a digital card, and not a physical one? The answer is yes you can, you can just tap your phone as you would tap your card. ANZ also accepts withdrawals from smart watches too. Thanks!

August 14, 2023I have received a ANZ visa debit card but I have not used it at all. Do I have to pay any fees to use it. I think It is linked with my ANZ access account
admin
August 15, 2023Hi Prem, if you have a debit card that came with your account, you most likely won’t pay fees to use it. It’s given free with your account as a way to access your money (by paying at a register, online or using an ATM to withdraw money). If you’re not sure how to use it, I’d suggest calling ANZ directly so they can help you. Thanks Prem!

November 16, 2022Hi Jodie, you’ve actually landed on Debitcards.com.au, not ANZ. I suggest giving ANZ a call directly at 13 33 33 about this so they can sort it out. Good luck!

October 13, 2022Is there a required minimum balance for this account?
admin
November 16, 2022Hi Sherrell, I checked this for you and ANZ Access Advantage debit card’s terms don’t indicate whether a minimum balance is required. However, it indicates that the $5 monthly service fee may be waived automatically if a deposit of at least $2000 a month is made. You can reach ANZ directly at 13 33 33 for specifics.

October 27, 20133.00% on overseas transaction includes online shopping if product is bought overseas?
Leann
January 29, 2014Hi Ann, the 3.00% overseas transaction fee is charged when you make a purchase that is billed to you in a foreign currency. For example at the checkout when you purchase something online, the amount charged is in USD will incur 3.00% of the transaction total to cover the costs of making a foreign transaction. However, if the website you are purchasing off supports transactions in AUD, then you will be spared from this charge.
