The Bankwest Student debit card account is an option that gives people studying a chance to get more out of banking.

This account is almost completely fee-free, but there are still some exceptions. While ATM withdrawals made within the Bankwest and Commonwealth Bank network are always free, there is a massive $5 charge when you get money out at a Bankwest counter.

The two other major fees you should be aware of are for foreign transactions, which are charged at a competitive rate of 2.95%, and an overseas ATM access fee of $5 per transaction (even if you are just checking your balance).

Unfortunately most bank debit cards come with these fees, so the best option is to be aware of them and avoid making too many transactions when you are overseas.
